Description
In my high school years my father was stationed in Honolulu so we were graced with the presence of the regal Queen of the Garden, Strelitzia reginae, better known as the Bird of Paradise wherever we went. At the time, I didn't realize just how special it was to be able to step out the front door and cut the brightly hued wonder that so resembled an exotic bird - I do now! To this day, the vibrant animation it lends to a flower arrangement makes it one of my favorite flowers to add when I am lucky enough to find it. The Bird of Paradise is most certainly a sassy flower that totally lives up to its name!
