'Emergence' amusingly evolved from an intuitive exploration of the uses of new catalyst tools I had obtained to play with.
First I rather haphazardly painted my canvas with acrylic colors I found pleasing. After drying I painted a layer of black acrylic over the entire canvas and proceeded to move my new silicone wedges over the surface revealing the colors underneath. Using acrylics, I had to work fast! There was no choice but to allow my inner artist to take charge and go with the flow āŗ

Life is a Great Big Canvas, throw all the Paint you can on it! ~~Danny Kaye~~ Please come on in and share a slice of my life with me by enjoying a stroll through my work... I paint to further understand the wonders in the world around me and share what I discover with you and others. I delight in a wide variety of subjects from the playful to the more serious and utilize many techniques to satisfy my thirst to explore. Being more in tune with an impressionistic approach than worrying over minute detail, I often find myself distilling the essential nature of the subject to a simpler arrangement of light, form and color. Sometimes there is a story to be told, whether in my composition or from the viewer imposing their own experiences....

Dear Zan, thanks so much for sharing this technique in your backstory and in the Artist BUZzz! I am transported ā¦way back to earliest years where crayons were used to cover cardboard paper turning the surface into a waxy abstract. The surface was flooded with Indian ink and that was left to dry. The next day one faced a black ācanvasā and with an angled stick, flat scrapes and sharp lines revealed the forgotten Colour patterns below. There is something immediate, authentic and āchildlikeā when entering that realm of possibility. Conni mentioned āresist workāā¦this is still my fav form of it. I will post one in the BUZzz! In the meantimeā¦I am loving thisā¦your elegant ferny flame that vibrates into instrumental music ā¦in Laurelland ā¦FAV and best to you!
Zan Savage replied:
Fun, Fun, Fun! Right?!! Definite warm fuzzies traveling back in time to crayon scratch offs!

This is so my type of art - I'd have this on my walk if I had any more room. Really love this.

Zan Savage replied:
LOL yes - Just Do It!! I do indeed enjoy the way our choice of medium and in this case, the process, can direct our movements and speed. Working quickly definitely forces me to draw upon my intuition... Thank you deeply for your kind words and for sharing your much appreciated thoughts!
