"Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time"...Thomas Merton
Oh yes indeed, whether the artist or the viewer, I well imagine many of us have experienced the sensation whilst immersed in our creative mind!
This painting and sentiment of finding ourselves searching through light and darkness was hatched from an awesome photo taken by a dear friend while she was investigating the environs while stationed in Guam.

Life is a Great Big Canvas, throw all the Paint you can on it! ~~Danny Kaye~~ Please come on in and share a slice of my life with me by enjoying a stroll through my work... I paint to further understand the wonders in the world around me and share what I discover with you and others. I delight in a wide variety of subjects from the playful to the more serious and utilize many techniques to satisfy my thirst to explore. Being more in tune with an impressionistic approach than worrying over minute detail, I often find myself distilling the essential nature of the subject to a simpler arrangement of light, form and color. Sometimes there is a story to be told, whether in my composition or from the viewer imposing their own experiences....

Zan, in the twilight of your contest tribute, after lingering...image by image...resting to explore new-to-me paintings ...finding new treasures of delight and FEELing the gratitude for such glimpses of beauty that bring a smile, a memory, a sensation or ...a story...I cannot resist another burst of revisiting my favorites!! ...YAY!...

Thank you Laurel - as has so often occurred with your descriptions of my work, you have read my thoughts well ;-)

Zan, today I am exploring your DWELLINGS COLLECTION! That this painting invites your description tab to quote Merton, says it ALL for me...the mystical immersion into symbolism of a cavernous INdwelling is symbolic on so many levels, certainly spiritually. I love the Peace, Serenity and the FEEL of this!...BRAVA!..LF
